The wildly popular monster flick is getting a well-deserved follow up.

Director Takashi Yamazaki gave Variety an exciting update to the sequel of his hit film "Godzilla Minus One" recently. Yamagazi says that this time around, there will be a definite budget increase while addressing concerns about what role AI will play in the follow-up. "It’s a very capable assistant or tool, as it stands right now, but it is not at the point where it can kind of take center stage and generate what humans can," Yamagazi stated through a translator during an awards event where he accepted the coveted Vision Award at the Visual Effects Society. "Right now, it’s not in any of our pipelines because of that reason, but the speed at which AI evolves is just so immense that where it goes from here remains to be seen." The director, however, denounced the use of AI anytime soon, saying "I know that someday we’re going to have to embrace and kind of work with AI, but I’m probably going to be one of the later ones because I do like working with older technology and techniques." While there is no tentaive date for the sequel, it will be the 34th movie in a franchise that shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
